Powder Ridge – Intense DH

October 7-8, 2023, Saturday DH practice with expert/pro seeding. Sunday morning practice followed by DH racing.

Each race registration includes a Saturday and Sunday Lift Pass. Friday passes can be purchased from Powder Ridge

Connecticut’s first lift-served bike park, the Powder Ridge Mountain Park and Resort, made its debut in 2016 and serves up a variety of gravity-fed downhill trails and fun features in addition to the brand-new paved pump track to help get your moves dialed.

Each race registration includes a Saturday and Sunday Lift Pass.

  • Racers Must start with their class and at the assigned time. This will be enforced as we will present medals and awards right after the last racer in each class finishes.
  • Final Class Results will be posted 5 minutes after the last racer finishes in each class. If a racer misses their class starting times, they will not get a finishing position or series points and will receive a DNS
  • We will award medals and prizes at our tents 15 minutes after the Class Results have been posted.
  • No Reruns unless the course is closed during your race run.

Volunteers are needed for this event, and you’ll get to see the action up close!

We’ll get you an ESC whistle and a T-Shirt

USE WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT Event Name: 2023 Eastern States Cup LLC Mountain Bike Race Series Event Date(s): April 20, 2023 - November 1, 2023 IN CONSIDERATION of USENDURANCE allowing me to participate in the US Endurance event described above (the “Event”) I, for myself, and on behalf of my spouse, children, parents, guardians, heirs and next of kin, and any legal and personal representatives, executors, administrators, successors and assigns, hereby agree to and make the following contractual representations pursuant to this Waiver and Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement (the “Agreement”); 1.I hereby represent that (i) I am in good health and in proper physical condition to participate in the Event; and (ii) I am not under the influence of alcohol or any illicit or prescription drugs which would in any way impair my ability to safely participate in the Event. I agree that it is my sole responsibility todetermine whether I am sufficiently fit and healthy enough to participate in the Event. 2.I understand and acknowledge the physical and mental rigors associated with this adventure racing Event, and realize that many elements of this Eventare inherently dangerous and represent an extreme test of a person’s physical and mental limits. I understand that participation involves risks and dangerswhich include, without limitation, the potential for serious bodily injury, permanent disability, paralysis and death; loss or damage to property; exposure toextreme conditions and circumstances; contact or collision with other participants, spectators, vehicles or other natural or manmade objects; dangersarising from adverse weather conditions; imperfect course conditions; water, road and surface hazards; equipment failure; inadequate safety measures;participants of varying skill levels; situations beyond the immediate control of the Event Organizers; and other undefined, not readily foreseeable andpresently unknown risks and dangers (“Risks”). I understand that these Risks may be caused in whole or in part by my own actions or inactions, theactions or inactions of others participating in the Event, or the negligence of the Released Parties defined below, and I hereby expressly assume all suchRisks and responsibility for any damages, liabilities, losses or expenses which I incur as a result of my participation in the Event. 3.I agree to be familiar with and abide by the Rules and Regulations established for the Event, including but not limited to rules and regulations related toCompetition and Safety. I also accept sole responsibility for my own conduct and actions while participating in the Event, and the condition and adequacyof my equipment. 4.I hereby Release, Waive and Covenant Not to Sue, and further agree to Indemnify, Defend and Hold Harmless the following parties: US Endurance, theEvent Organizers and Promoters, Race Directors, Sponsors, Advertisers, Host Cities, Local Organizing Committees, Venues and Property Owners uponwhich the Event takes place, Law Enforcement Agencies and other Public Entities providing support for the Event, and each of their respective parent,subsidiary and affiliated companies, officers, directors, partners, shareholders, members, agents, employees and volunteers (Individually andCollectively, the “Released Parties” or “Event Organizers”), with respect to any liability, claim(s), demand(s), cause(s) of action,damage(s), loss or expense (including court costs and reasonable attorney’s fees) of any kind or nature (“Liability”) which may arise out of, resultfrom, or relate to my participation in the Event, including claims for Liability caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the Released Parties. I further agree that if, despite this Agreement, I, or anyone on my behalf, makes a claim for Liability against any of the Released Parties, I will indemnify, defendand hold harmless each of the Released Parties from any such Liabilities which any may be incurred as the result of such claim. 5.I hereby pre-authorize the Event Organizers and their representatives to arrange for emergency medical treatment and/or transport via ambulance or air on my behalf if medical attention is warranted during my participation in the Event. I understand and agree that I will be responsible for the costsassociated with any such emergency medical care and/or transport arranged on my behalf, and hereby release the Event Organizers from any Liabilityrelating to the cost and provision of any rescue operations, first aid treatment, medical care, hospital expenses or the medical decisions made at the Eventsite or elsewhere on my behalf. I hereby warrant that I have read this Agreement carefully, understand its terms and conditions, acknowledge that I will be giving up substantial legal rights by signing it (including the rights of the minor, my spouse, children, parents, guardians, heirs and next of kin, and any legal and personal representatives, executors, administrators, successors and assigns), and intend for my signature to serve as confirmation of my complete and unconditional acceptance of the terms, conditions and provisions of this Agreement. This Agreement represents the complete understanding between the parties regarding these issues and no oral representations, statements or inducements have been made apart from this Agreement. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this Agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions. MAXXIS ESC RACE REGISTRATION REFUND POLICY

  • Refunds are available less a $20 handling fee until 14 days before the event.
  • Race entries cannot be transferred to a different event 
  • Race entries can be transferred to another person for a $20 handling fee until 7 Days Before the event

All racers must sign a MAXXIS ESC and a venue waiver before practicing or registering at all events. Racers under 18 must have a parent sign their waiver or supply a notarized parental signed copy. 

 

CAMPING –  max 6 persons per site as per the health board.
Sites will be marked off in the upper tiers of parking at Powder Ridge. Please purchase camping in advance.

INTENSE DOWNHILL INFORMATION

No Points will carry over to a new class when a racer upgrades or downgrades their class.
MAXXIS ESC Racing Age is the racers age on December 31, 2023
NO Racing License Required

MAXXIS ESC Number Plates:
Racers must display their 2023 MAXXIS ESC number plate while practicing or racing on the course. Only racers with a valid and registered 2023 MAXXIS ESC number plate are permitted on the course. These number plates can be purchased at each race for $10 and are valid for the entire season. Any modifications to the plate will result in disqualification, and the lettering and logos must remain completely intact, with no cuts allowed.

WAIVERS
All racers must sign a MAXXIS ESC and a venue waiver prior to practicing or registering at all events. Racers under 18 must have a parent sign their waiver or supply a notarized parental signed copy. No other methods are allowed.

MAXXIS Eastern States Cup DH Series Plan:

The best 8 rounds by points count towards the series championship standings
In the event of a tie, the best position at the most recent event takes precedence
Oakley Showdown Races score 105% series points
Series Finals at Killington scores 125% series points

The Maxxis ESC does allow reruns if the course closed during the racer’s race run
The Maxxis ESC does allow reruns if the timers request a new run due to a malfunction
The Maxxis ESC does not allow reruns if a racer is impeded by another racer

Racers must be present at the starting line for their designated start time. If a racer is not at the start line for their scheduled time and their Maxxis ESC Racer class results have been posted at the finish or registration area, they will be disqualified from the day’s competition.

MAXXIS ESC Downhill Series Race Podium
The top 5 racers in each class will make the podium, with the first, second, and third place receiving custom Eastern States Cup Podium Medals. The fourth and fifth places will receive prizes from Kate’s Real Food. Some venues may offer additional prizes as part of their enhanced prize packages.

The fastest DH racers in every class in the OAKLEY SPEED ZONE are awarded some Oakley Speed Zone swag, while the fastest amateur man and amateur woman will win some cool Oakley gear

Kate’s Cash, When the number of racers in the men’s amateur class exceeds 50 or in the women’s amateur class exceeds 20, the class will receive a cash prize in addition to regular product prizes. The cash will be awarded as follows:

  • $100  -1st
  • $50   – 2nd
  • $25    -3rd

Küat LAST CALL
An exciting new addition this season is the Küat Last Call. It will work like this: At every Maxxis ESC stop, at the end of awards, we will draw one plate number from the weekend’s registered racers and IF they are present, they will win a Küat Hitch Rack. The hitch for the Hitch rack is: you’ve got to be present to win!

Kate’s Kids

The Kate’s Kids Class pre-registration fee is 100% Refunded after a parent volunteers and completes course marshaling for the entire race (all classes) on Sunday. We’ll get you on the course, give you an ESC Official’s T-Shirt, and an official ESC whistle. All you need is a fun attitude and a cell phone in case of an emergency.

  • Kate’s Kid Class Racers Must Pre-register Online and have a Parent Volunteer to be eligible for the Refund
  • Racers must be 12 or younger on December 31, 2023 to be eligible.

MANDATORY MOVE UPS

Any Amateur racer that scores a time that would have won the same age expert class must move up to that class, if 8 or more racers were in that expert class.

Any Amateur may be moved to the Expert Class at any time the ESC determines the move to be in the best interests competition.

Past ESC DH Amateur Series Champions from any prior season MUST race in the Expert Class (Cat1)

Past ESC DH Amateur Series Champions can petition to stay in the Amateur Class in writing via email to easternstatescup@hotmail.com

MAXXIS ESC DH Series Championship Qualifications:

The best 8 rounds by points count towards the series championship standings
In the event of a tie, the best position at the most recent event takes precedence
Showdown Races score 105% series points
Series Finals at Killington scores 125% series points

No minimum number of races is needed to qualify for DH Series Championship Standings

Any ties will be broken by placement in the series finals at Killington

No Points will carry over to a new class when a racer upgrades or downgrades their class.

Racers MUST be present at the Race Award Ceremony to Receive Race Awards and/or Cash Payouts!
