EWS Website Information on the event

THIS EVENT IS ONE OF ONLY 4 EWS QUALIFIERS IN THE USA IN 2022

For the past 13 years, the Maxxis ESC has been ensuring the future of gravity mountain bike racing on the East Coast. The Maxxis ESC has hosted USA Cycling ProGRT’s, EWS Continental Championships, EWS gold Qualifiers, and the Race the World DH events during the Windam World Cup. Continuing our mission we will be hosting an EWS Qualifier at Sugarloaf Bike Park for their awesome variety of trails. This event will be a KASK Showdown event with our Intense DH series competing on the same day at the same time.

For the EWS Qualifier at Sugarloaf, former MTB Olympian Adam Craig will be putting together a stage race that utilizes a wide variety of terrain. The EWS Qualifier will use 2 lift transfers, but racers should be prepared for a lot of pedaling on the other three transfers.

Sugarloaf is putting out the red carpet for the Maxxis ESC, this being our second visit the resort. There will be a live band on Friday and Saturday nights, a free Strider race Saturday at 3pm, camping in the lot, food and beverage specials!

The minimum age to race at the global EWS / Trophy of Nations is 17 (year of birth 2005 for the current season).
16 year old racers at EWS Qualifier events are eligible to collect EWS Global Ranking points towards securing a spot on the 2023 Reserved Entry List – they would just be sorted into the Under 21 race category for the ranking calculations.

EWS Memberships are not mandatory for racers at EWS Qualifier events. But only riders with a membership would be eligible to collect EWS Global Ranking points towards qualifying for the elite/pro EWS race and/or Trophy of Nations UCI Championship nations team.

Riders will need to have an active/valid EWS membership at the time of the race in order to be eligible to collect EWS Global Ranking points. Points are not assigned retroactively if riders purchase the membership after a qualifier race.
EWS Memberships are valid for a calendar year.

2022 EWS memberships are available HERE

Once activated it is Imperative that Endurop Racers DO NOT Allow their Race chips to be idle near the start or finish beacons; The chips will constantly read the times broadcast by the beacons. The timing chips have a capacity of 100 time stamps and will quickly run out of space. After reading 100 time stamps, the timing chip will no longer read any more times. As a result, no times will be recorded, and you will be declared a DNF.
