MAXXIS ESC BOX Components Showdown At Killington Mountain Bike Park

FREE PIZZA PARTY AT THE SPECIALIZED TENTS
SATURDAY 5PM

We are excited to be heading back to one of our most popular venues. This weekend we have well over 400 racers pre-registered, that’s an all time record for the Maxxis ESC !!

Pre-Registered racers can purchase a 50% off discounted lift pass for Friday at the Killington ticket counter.

Racers that did not purchase a Saturday Lift Practice Pass at Pre Registration will either have to purchase one at Saturday registration or wait to check in on Sunday morning.

If you have not paid for your 2019 Maxxis ESC number plate or registration, please note it is CASH only.

HELMETS – MUST be worn properly everywhere at all times when on your bike, including the parking lot!

NO EBIKES – That goes for all weekend for everyone. If you are seen/reported/caught/whatever EBIKING, you will be assessed a time penalty. Trust us you will not be on the podium if you try, so don’t.

Attached are a couple documents for you to review, one is the map. We will NOT have printed maps for this event as the course is easy to follow, so if you want one please print it. Please review the 2019 MAXXIS ESC Enduro and DH rules on our website, there have been some changes, so it would be best to read everything.

All attached forms must be filled out even if you preregistered. Print them out, fill them in and save time.

There will be a Killington Bike Park paper waiver at registration, everyone needs to fill that along with the attached entry form and ESC waiver.

We will be onsite Friday afternoon but please understand we cannot do any registration on Friday. We have a lot of set up and course work to get done.

BOX SHOWDOWN

BOX Racers should meet and get their chips activated at 8:00

To be eligible racers need to register for both DH and Enduro and Sign the BOX Showdown Sheet at Check In !

The BOX Components Showdowns are contested within the Maxxis ESC. The seven 2019 “BOX Showdown” weekends will feature both Enduro and Down Hill races at the largest resorts on our schedule. The ESC will combine results from racers that compete in both disciplines.

BOX Components and the ESC will present high end prizing for the top three men and women that race both Enduro and Downhill during the weekend.

The festival atmosphere will bring together racers that haven’t met before, which will result in great fun for all.

DH

Timing will be performed by All Sports Event, the great folks that we used after the first few races last season.  Also back is the FLY SPEED ZONE that awards prizing for the fastest racers through the radar speed trap.

Please review the DH rules on the Easternstatescup.com website especially regarding reruns so there is no confusion on that matter.

Brand New this season is the INTENSE BIKES PODIUM PAYBACK Program that pays cash or certificates to racers that have raced with an Intense bike and have registered with Intense here: https://intensecycles.com/pages/podium-payback-program

One new rule change for all racers but will mostly impact the DH racers is, we are not allowing goggle tear-offs at any time during the events.

Enduro

$100 TIMING CHIPS – We will be using our SIAC Fly By timing system for the enduro event. Please note if you do not return the SIAC Timing Chip you will owe us $100. Yes they cost that much. Other enduro series require the racers to use their own or rent them plus a deposit. We trust our racers until proven otherwise so please make sure to return the chip if you decide to leave early.

Please Note: GPS units on bars or stem may interfere with the SIAC Timing Chip so it’s best not to use one.

Enduro Racers need to be self sufficient and carry their own water and snacks. Only the Ramshead Parking lot is for neutral support. In the neutral support area racers can be handed water, food and mechanical help. No outside support allowed anywhere else.

No stashing packs or water on course.

CLIF KIDS CLASS

All racers must have their parents sign the waivers and the racers will sign in at registration. For Pre-Registered CLIF KIDS CLASS Racers there will be no registration fee or lift ticket fee for race day. We all really want to grow our sport and feel this is a great way to get the kids started.

We will be charging the same $10 late fee for onsite registrations and Saturday Lift passes at lift assisted venues are not included, however they can be purchased online or onsite for a $30 discounted rate.

This class will do the same DH tracks as the pros, go arounds for features will be available. In the Enduro races this class will compete on one less race segment.

The racers in the CLIF KIDS CLASS class can only participate in one discipline at Box Showdowns.

RACING WITH YOUR KID

Only race registered MAXXIS ESC racers with 2018 MAXXIS Race Plates are allowed on the MAXXIS ESC race tracks or transfers during practice and race day. If a parent wants to ride with their kids they MUST be registered and follow all the MAXXIS ESC Race Rules. We’re sorry but there are NO EXCEPTIONS to this due to insurance requirements.

ENDURO The Clif Kids will compete on Sections 2-3-4-5 in that order. The group will meet at the Maxxis ESC Registration tents at 11:00am Saturday for a group ride. Brooks Nablo’s and Brad Couture will be leading and following the enduro kids to make sure they are safe.

DH: The Clif Kids will be practicing together with Joe Cerina from Fox Head leading and sweeping the tracks for the kids The group will meet at the Maxxis ESC Registration tents at 11:00am Saturday for group rides.

Racers Ability

CLIF KIDS CLASS Racers should be able to ride most trails in a bike park on their own. If there are hard sections they don’t feel comfortable on, then they should walk those sections.

All FIRST TIME U12 CLIF Kids Racers will be required to ride Saturday with the CLIF Kids group led by a Maxxis ESC Official to ensure their ability and safety of the racer.

We want to make sure they can ride the tracks and have fun. We never want a child to feel intimated or over their head. While we do have racers as young as 6 racing all our enduro events but age doesn’t equate to rider ability. We ask that the racers are able to ride all the trails at the bike park before entering. We want to ensure they have fun and progress. This is not a learn to ride program but rather a learn to race program. Please keep in mind he Maxxis ESC Enduro tracks are some of the most challenging trails in the East.

Please note: CLIF KIDS may only compete in one discipline per weekend

The above may be adjusted, so please check with us at Registration. No parents may ride with or run behind their children unless they are registered racers – NO EXCEPTIONS. Racers in this class may only race in one event, either DH or enduro but not both.

·        AWARDS – Racers MUST be present at the Series Final Award Ceremonies or at the Race Award Ceremony to Receive Awards and/or Cash Payouts!
