The KIDS’ CLASS is for racers that will be 12 or younger on December 31, 2025
KIDS’ CLASS

The 2025 Kid Class is supported by the MAXXIS ESC. This class is designed to introduce young riders to gravity mountain bike racing.
Kids Class: Rider Ability
The Kids Class is designed for young riders who can confidently navigate all of the venue’s trails. While we welcome racers as young as 5, age isn’t the only factor.
Independent Riding: Racers should be able to ride the trails without assistance. Walking challenging sections is perfectly acceptable. Our goal is fun and safety, not pushing beyond comfort levels.
Prior Trail Experience: To ensure a positive experience, we recommend riders have prior experience riding the venue’s trails.
Introduction to Racing: This class is designed to give young riders a taste of MTB racing, not a learn-to-ride program.
Remember that the Maxxis ESC features some of the most challenging trails in the East. If you’re unsure if the Kids Class is the right fit, please contact us for guidance. We want all racers to have a fun and safe experience!
THULE SHOWDOWN – Kids/Lite racers can only compete in one discipline.
Only registered racers are allowed on Maxxis ESC tracks on race weekends.
If a parent wants to ride/practice/ race with their kid, the parent MUST be a REGISTERED RACER
KIDS DOWNHILL CLASS
The KIDS DH CLASS will be one of the first groups to start. They will compete on the same track as the MAXXIS ESC DH racers. Go-arounds for more difficult features will be available. Our volunteers will sweep the track before and after the first and last racers.
During practice and race day, only race registered MAXXIS ESC racers with 2025 MAXXIS Race Plates are permitted on the MAXXIS ESC racetracks or transfers.
KIDS / STANS ENDURO LITE
Kid/Lite Class Racers must stay with the assigned Maxxis ESC official during the race. A Maxxis ESC official will guide Kids’ Class practice sessions on Saturdays at a pre-announced time.
To ensure a safe and fair race for all participants, we have qualified guides who will ride with the kids during the race. This allows us to maintain a consistent experience for all racers.
Racers in this class will compete in fewer race segments than other racers and in a different order.
Racers should be self-sufficient and carry their own hydration, tools, and tubes. All Maxxis ESC Rules should be followed by Kate’s Kids and Kates Enduro Lite Classes, including assistance and shuttling, unless otherwise noted.
All KIDS CLASS racers will be awarded a prize. The top three will receive Maxxis ESC Medals.
The KIDS CLASS racers can only participate in one discipline at the Showdowns.
Racers must be 12 or younger on December 31, 2025 to be eligible.
Practice/Race alongside your child: If you’d like to ride the course with your child, you can enter the Enduro Lite Class. This class allows parents to ride with their kids and follow the same course as the Kid’s Class. No other classes may race with the Kids Class due to the class doing the stages in a different order.
Important Note: For safety reasons, only registered racers can ride the course during race weekend. This helps us manage the number of riders on the trails and avoid potential issues.

ENDURO LITE CLASS
Have you been hearing the buzz about enduro racing but weren’t sure if it was for you? Got a kid that’s been bugging you to let them race? The Enduro Lite Class will offer an introduction to enduro racing in a stress-free setting. This Class will ride and race with the Kids Class.
The Lite class will not compete for Maxxis ESC Podiums, Medals, or a Series Championship. This is the for the FUN Class!!
Everyone has to start somewhere, and this is the place. Before you know it, you will be ready for the next level of racing. Spread the word; we hope to see you at one of our events!
The Enduro Lite format will offer fun tracks to entertain all levels of riders but will focus primarily on first-timers. The emphasis will not be on results or prizes but on learning and having fun with like-minded mountain bike riders.
PLEASE NOTE: Enduro Lite Class racers are required to stay with the Kids Class and race the segments in the same order. Enduro Lite Class Racers may only compete in enduro at the Showdown Events.
Other than what is noted above, the KIDS CLASS and the ENDURO LITE CLASS will be governed by all the same rules as our other Maxxis ESC racers.
