HIGH & DRY
Maxxis ESC Stan’s Enduro #7 – Burke, Vermont

Back to Burke we go for Round 7 of Stan’s Intense racing, with just two races left after this the battle for series points has reached a boiling point. There may be only four stages on the docket but one of them is accessed by a huge climb up the Toll Road, so hydration and nutrition are important as there’s no any aid stations. Our shortest stage of the year coupled with a couple lengthy ones mean both strong endurance and raw speed were necessary to take home top honors at this round. With the season winding down every pedal stroke and corner count more than ever, keep scrolling to see who conquered the loose, dusty corners of Burke to reach the podium.

It’s dry as a bone in these parts.

All pedal power this weekend, with the exception of one trip up the Sherburne Express to mid-mountain that makes the summit trek a bit easier.

With no ebikers racing this weekend, we got the Pro Men out of bed early for an 8:30am start. We swapped clouds for sun throughout the day and temperatures topped out in the mid 70’s, ideal weather for enjoying a big day in the saddle.

Careful, it’s a bit beachy in some corners, Brennan Delphia hangs on through the loose stuff to extend his 40-49 men’s class win streak to five.

There’s no time to waste when most are finishing Stage 1 in less than a minute. Ayrton French does it in 47.7 seconds, carrying that momentum to second place in the 20U class.

21-29 men’s class winner Marcus Dumoulin snakes his way through the top half of Stage 2.

Back to back wins for Beckett Hickey as he extends his lead in the 20U points battle.

Calvin Davis was one of the few who opted for the outside rock line on Stage 2. He would stay on the gas and earn third place for the second time this year.

You spend most of your time in the woods while racing Burke, but when you pop out onto the ski trail you’re quickly reminded what a beautiful place this is.

Dexter Shearer keeps it pinned into the woods on his way to the 16U Boys win.

Second place for 40-49 racer Nicholas Whitney, not a bad for his first Maxxis ESC outing of the year.

Christopher Donze got loose and earned his best result to date, second place in the 30-39 men’s class.

After two stages riders would pedal their way up to the summit, the effort is big but the views of Willoughby Gap are well worth it.

Pro racer Adam Robbins focuses before the fourth and final stage of the day, he would finish in fourth place.

Todd Shearer leaves a thick dust trail on his way to second place in the 50+ Masters class.

First race of the year for Pro rider Serefina Krajewska after battling an injury, she’s right back up to speed with a solid effort that landed her in fifth place.

First Enduro in a while for Mary Jane Kissinger but when it’s at your home mountain you’ve got to get your pedal on. She did the IdeRide gang proud, winning all four stages on her way to the Pro women’s class top step come Sunday afternoon.
