HOT & DUSTY Maxxis ESC Stan’s No Tubes Enduro #5 – Arrowhead, New Hampshire

When we rolled into Arrowhead Recreation Area three years ago we weren’t sure what to expect, but the Claremont, New Hampshire venue has since become a crowd favorite. Each year the crew adds new surprises for us like fresh trails, a beer garden, food service and The Wheelhouse bike shop right in the base area. Did we mention the trail network is home to some of the best loamers in New England? We even got to enjoy riding them in dry conditions this weekend, which put the stoke meter off the charts. We’re still cleaning moon dust out of every crevice of riding gear, but keep scrolling to see how things shook out come Sunday afternoon. Six stages on the menu this weekend, three of them starting from the rocky top with a killer view of downtown Claremont and Mount Ascutney.

The Arrowhead trail crew is always treating us to fun new bits of trail each year, like this beautifully sculpted rhythm section to berm finishing out the final stage.

Highs were near the 90’s with high humidity, thankfully the hillside has plenty of shade to rest after the 600′ climb.

Trail conditions: bone dry and fast as.

Strategic brake checks are necessary, things can get out of hand quickly on the steep sections.

With speed comes mechanicals, it sure is nice having The Wheelhouse shop for any major catastrophes.

Hazy start to the morning riders meeting but that burned off in no time.

Kate’s Kids 12U class ready to roll out for a big day on the bike, these rippers will be chasing the Pros before we know it.

The Cannondale Ebike class had first dibs at the loam buffet Sunday morning. Dakota Alix gaps over a harsh compression on Stage 1, he would end the day in third place.

Will Miemis grabs what’s left of this blown out corner on Stage 1, he would win this and two other stages on his way to second place in the 20U class.

Maxxis tires hooked up on the scenic rock slab drop in, Christian Stahl would round out the 40-49 men’s class top three.

Lucas Sourbeer tackles the loose steeps at the top of Stage 3, he bested the 16U class in all six stages and the race.

Josh Poirier had to do some zip tie engineering. Finish the race by any means necessary, that’s the spirit of Enduro.

After a quick stretch in during practice, Max Beaupre took the Cannondale Ebike class win by a margin of 38 seconds.

Mattson Clement finds success in his second race with the Pro Men, fourth place with consistent stage results.

This drop at the bottom of Stage 4 is always a party zone you can hear long before you arrive. Eli Misavage powers to second place in the 21-29 class.

Zoe Ringquist follows the dust trail at the bottom of Stage 4 to her first Female 16U class win.

Healing vibes to Serefina Krajewska who has become a regular on the Pro women’s class podium. She unfortunately had a tumble and injured her leg, hopefully she can join us back here for Stan’s Enduro finals in October.

Never seen that happen before..

It’s nice not to worry about wet roots for a change, Owen Wilson lets it roll to third place in a stacked 20U class.

Burke Warren exhibiting proper last turn of the race technique, the media squids salute you good sir!

Huge thanks to the Arrowhead crew for setting up a snowmaking fan gun to cool off racers as they rolled back into the base area.

Kai Waldman collected a stage win on her way to third place for the Pro ladies.

P2 for Michelle Guy with 30 seconds to reel in, she currently leads the overall as we near the middle of the season.

After 15:05 on the clock, Amanda Vansant topped the Pro women’s class in her first Maxxis ESC race with a trio of stage wins.

Pro Women: 4th – Tillie Lange, 2nd – Michelle Guy, 1st – Amanda Vansant, 3rd – Kai Waldman, 5th – Anne McLoughlin

Third place for Connecticut native Tucker Shearer, you know you’re having a good season when third is your worst result yet.

Adrian Hayden had a strong race day but a sizeable crash on the final stage would set him back several seconds.

Isaac Allaire is still the man to beat in 2024, taking his fourth W of the season with the same number of stage wins. His total race time of 11:14 was just 1.7s slower than our Cannondale Ebike class winner even with a flat on Stage 2.
