Camping for the ESC Box Showdown

  • We have been informed by the town of Charlemont that they will not be able to extend the special temporary camping permit that have done in years past. We know you all loved the parking lot camping scene… so did we! The good news is that we do have some other options that should make for a good vibe and fun weekend.
  • There will be two options available.
  1. We have worked with the town rent the Charlemont Fairgrounds for the event from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. It is only 1.5 miles from Thunder Mountain and provides a good place to stay and socialize. For those planning to stay at the fairgrounds, there is $10 event fee. There are bathrooms onsite, though no RV hookups are available. Places to setup a tent or park a camper will be available. The fairgrounds are located .25 mile on 8A north off of route 2. Follow 8A until you come to a covered bridge and take a right up the hill before crossing the bridge. Most GPS devices should find Charlemont Fairgrounds if you search. We are working on some activities and fun stuff on Saturday evening. 2.
  2. Berkshire East has just been approved to run a camp area at the mountain. The more formal arrangement will allow us to make sure we have lodging and camping options for people moving forward. There are 25 tent sites in front of the West Lodge and some safari camping in the parking lot for camping vehicles or overflow from the other area. Each spot is $25 per site each evening, with up to 4 people per site. Full details to follow on our website.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we work to implement these required changes. We just received final approval last night from the town and will provide more details moving forward.  If you have any immediate questions, email gabe@berkshireeast.com.

The ALEX RIMS Super Stage is back too!. This competition awards the fastest amateur male and amateur female a pair of Alex Rims Volar rims, it will be contested on STAGE 5.

Downhill

We have a new timing system this season and it will require a couple of step that you won’t be familiar with. Don’t worry it will all go smooth if you do what’s required to get you split and perfect timing.

Here’s the important steps:

  • We will issue a chip holder at registration, these will be taken off by us after your race run. There is a $10 replacement cost for the holders so please don’t lose it. It’s best to affix it to your bike right away so you know where it is all weekend.
  • Chip Hand Out will now be handled at the start. We’ll be affixing the Active Chips to your bikes as you’re inline for the start of your race run, so don’t be late!
  • Practice ends PROMPTLY at 11:30
  • Do Not let your bike get near the starting gate until your race run once the Active Chip is affixed to your bike.
  • Come immediately to the race tents after your race run. DO NOT go past us, you MUST STOP and let us remove the Active Chip from your bike.
  • Your time will be announced and displayed on the Television immediately
  • WARNING: If a racer throws their bike or equipment or acts in a rude manner to any ESC Crew or Officials you will be disqualified!
